What did I do to combat the fear of failure? I honestly don’t remember a fear of failure. I had a fear of starving, and, shortly after that, a fear of not feeding my kids, which tended to keep me working and writing. I wanted what I’ve got now. But I would have been satisfied with anything that kept me fed — as long as it was moving towards the mountain.
